Hetmyer dropped from the World Cup squad after missing a flight

Shimron Hetmyer dropped from West Indies' World Cup squad. The reason, however, is not related to the injury or the field of play. West Indies Cricket Board has dropped Shimron Hetmyer from the team after he did not arrive on time for his rescheduled flight to Australia.

Hetmyer will not be seen in the T20 series against Australia. Sharmarh Brooks has been named in Hetmyer's place in West Indies T20 World Cup squad.

At the end of the CPL, the West Indies team went to Australia Airplane last Saturday. Hetmyer, who captains the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL, expressed his desire to skip Saturday for personal reasons. The board accepted it and booked tickets for Monday. Cricket West Indies said in a statement, "Getting a flight is very challenging, but a seat was found for him from Guyana on Monday." However, he could not play the first T20 match against Australia at Metricon Stadium on 5 October. But on Monday morning, Hetmyer informed the director of cricket Jimmy Adams that he would not be able to reach the airport in time for his afternoon flight to New York.

Hetmyer may lose his place in the World Cup team if he misses the airplane for some reason, the left-handed batsman was informed earlier. This is what Jimmy Adams claimed, 'We clearly informed Shimron Hetmyer when he changed his flight from Saturday to Monday due to family reasons, and if he is late for any reason and does not get on the plane to Australia, he may lose his place in the team. Because we are not willing to compromise for the preparation of such a big global tournament.

Australia will play the two-time world champions in the first round of the World Cup. In the first round, they will play against Scotland, Zimbabwe, and Ireland.
