"Foundation for friends" from Facebook friendship
98-2000. 25 years have passed since passing SSC and HSC exams at that time of school life. In this long time, each of these students have gone to different professions. Some are in the country, some are abroad. But these 99's young people who know or don't know each other from all over the country united through Facebook and celebrated friendship again. Now they have come together and started a foundation named 'SSC 98 Friends'. Students who passed SSC in 1998 and HSC in 2000 are members of this foundation.
The foundation was announced at Dhaka Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Friday. Two thousand students of 98th batch from all over the country were present in it.
In 2018, a Facebook group called 'SSC 98 HSC 2000 Friends' was opened by a friend named Mushfiqul Islam. In the last six years, 35 thousand people from all over the country have become members of the group. Competitions, cultural events, employment, financial assistance and services are provided to the needy and sick friends.
Besides, the group has been carrying out various humanitarian and social activities including winter clothing for the cold, relief in flood affected areas and distribution of food to the underprivileged people through a joint initiative.
This organization of friends has formed a foundation named 'Bangladesh SSC 98 Friends Foundation' to carry out humanitarian and social activities on a larger scale. The Foundation has been approved by the Department of Social Services of the Government. Yesterday's event included the announcement of the foundation and the formation of the initial executive council.
Two thousand friends present in this day-long event reminisced about their educational life. The event concluded with a musical performance by James. The organization's main sponsor for this event was a Dubai-based company named Shafer Master.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shefar Master Mansoor Abdul Rahman said, childhood memories always give a different feeling to everyone. Shaffer Master is very excited to be a part of this confluence of emotions.
