Jolly LLB is a court room drama and a comedy genre movie released in 2013. Based on the true story of Sanjeev Nanda, an industrialist's son, who ran over six people, including three police officers, in a drunken driving accident in 1999, the film won India's National Film Award in the Best Film category that year.
The entire case is a reference to the famous hit and run case involving the grandson of a former admiral of the Indian Navy; who was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol and ran over some people on the pavement. Many examples of movies are shadow of real events.
Arshad Warsi won appreciation for his performance and it was one of his hit singles.
Sanjay Mishra did not charge anything for the movie as he had to work only for one night. Ramesh Deo made a comeback to Hindi cinema after at least 15 years.
rahul Dewan, who rammed the Land Cruiser and killed people on the sidewalk, didn't say a word in the entire movie.
