Five different stories. One is centered on love, another on illness, another on fate. Each story will leave you puzzled. You won't be able to tell whether these things are really happening or whether it's all an illusion. Robiul Alam Robi has made a five-episode anthology series from these distinctively flavored stories by Shibabrata Barman. Chorki released the poster of the series, titled Unoloukik, yesterday. The original series is set to premiere on the streaming platform ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
The first glimpse of Unoloukik was seen in the mashup video of upcoming productions that Chorki released in May. The poster was released yesterday. The poster itself suggests that this psychological thriller series will bring together some of the country's best stars. The cast includes Asaduzzaman Noor, Chanchal Chowdhury, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Gazi Rakayet, Intekhab Dinar, Iresh Zaker, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Mostafa Monwar, Sohel Mondol, Farhana Hamid, Naziba Basher, and others.
"I stayed away from filmmaking for about two years to study cinema. After returning to the country, I felt these experiences should be put into work. In that sense, Unoloukik is a special project for me. Chorki gave me the freedom to experiment in every way." — Robiul Alam Robi
Speaking about the anthology series, director Robiul Alam Robi said, "I stayed away from filmmaking for about two years to study cinema. After returning to the country, I felt these experiences should be put into work. In that sense, Unoloukik is a special project for me. Chorki gave me the freedom to experiment in every way. The stories by my favorite author, Shibabrata Barman, served as the foundation of my experiment. It was possible to carry out this work because a film lover like producer Saleh Sobhan Aneem was with me. Overall, the experience of working on this has been very pleasant for me."
Starting from the opening day, Chorki will release one episode of Unoloukik every Thursday. The episodes are Moribar Holo Tar Shad, Dwikhandito, Hello Ladies, Miss Prohelika, and Don't Write Me.
Asaduzzaman Noor returns to acting after a long time with this anthology series. It is also his first work in web fiction. Due to COVID-19, work had to be done following all health guidelines, but Noor said he enjoyed every moment of the shoot. He will be seen in the story Don't Write Me.
Chanchal Chowdhury and Nusrat Imrose Tisha, the pair who have acted together in popular television productions, films like Ayesha, and telefilms, are also working together again after a long time. Their episode is titled Miss Prohelika.
Another attraction of the series is Syed Ahmed Shawki. Besides co-writing the screenplay with the director, he also did the production design for the series. He is the filmmaker known for Iti, Tomari Dhaka, and Takdir. In short, from the stories to the casting, everything about Unoloukik has a surprise.
"Chorki will have diverse content from different genres. Unoloukik is an experimental production for us, completely different from the conventional approach. I hope this differently flavored content will entertain the audience." — Redoan Rony
Speaking about Unoloukik, Chorki's Chief Operating Officer and filmmaker Redoan Rony said, "Chorki will have diverse content from different genres. Unoloukik is an experimental production for us, completely different from the conventional approach. I hope this differently flavored content will entertain the audience."
Earlier this year, the video streaming platform Chorki drew attention by announcing the release of 12 films in 12 months. The trailer of the platform's first web series, Morichika, has already been released. Chorki is set to bring many types of content, including films, web series, anthology series, and short films.
