Meta, Facebook's parent company, has introduced automatic end-to-end encryption for all chats and calls on Messenger.
Messenger used to have encryption, but it had to be turned on manually. As a result many users did not know about it. Many people are aware of the issue but did not get a chance to use it without finding the right option.
Meta has been experimenting with this feature for the past few years. A number of meta users were also enjoying the feature.
Recently it has been opened for all users. In other words, like WhatsApp, Facebook chat and Messenger chat are end-to-end encrypted.
According to several international media reports, nothing has to be done to launch this feature from Facebook chat and messenger. Automatically Meta turned on the feature for Facebook and Messenger users.
End-to-end encryption is currently the most accepted and trusted security measure for secure online communication. Special codes are added to encrypted messages. As a result, no one can read the message except the person who is sending the message. After the message reaches the receiver, the message is 'decoded' in an automatic process and displayed to him. Same goes for calls. Encrypted calls have no third-party interception.
As a result, no one but the sender and recipient can know the content of the message or call—not even Facebook or the Meta Authority.
