RAB has arrested 11 members of the transport extortion ring in Comilla city including Jangalia and Shasnagachha bus stands. The operation was conducted on Monday (July 19) at noon under the leadership of RAB-11's CPC-2 Comilla Company Commander Major Mohammad Shakib Hossain.
Arrested- Comilla Sadar South police station Shaktala village. Rukan Mia's son Md. Swapan Mia (20), son of the late Ohid Mia of the same village. Akash (19), said Nishchintapur Bagmara village. Major Mohammad Shakib Hossain said they were detained after conducting raids at Jangalia, Shasnagachha bus stand, and Burichang Varsar Bazaar in Comilla city. 19,170 rupees including 11 fake receipt books have been seized from them.
He further said that during the preliminary interrogation of the detainees, it was learned that they have been collecting regular tolls for a long time by intimidating the general transport drivers. Preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees. RAB's campaign to stop extortion in transport will continue.
